Window Sash Repairs

The sash is an interior framing that moves vertically up or down in windows that are open. This article will show you how to perform several simple repairs to sash.

Weather Stripping

Wood window sashes give the classic look to your home. When properly maintained, can last for a long time. They may, however, be damaged or degraded over time due to exposure or normal wear. The first step for sash window repairs is addressing weather stripping, which is found on both the sash and frame. It can cause drafts if damaged or is loose. Then, remove the sash and mark its width and height to find replacement weather stripping to match.

Then, you can remove the sash from the holder and place it on an even surface that allows you to see all four sides. Sash Weights

It is recommended to keep the weights that came with the original counterbalance unless you have purchased a kit to replace the counterbalance that was previously installed. They are not expensive and easy to install if you buy them from architectural salvage stores.
