To configure this bot, you'll need to plug it into its base and connect it to your Wi-Fi network at home. The Neato app will guide you through the initial configuration (linking the D4 to Wi-Fi, giving it a name and so on, etc.). When the D4 is fully charged it's time to begin a cleaning process.

Once the D4 is running, the app lets you create a schedule automatically or manually at any point. You can also control it using your voice using Google Home or Amazon Alexa. If you own an Apple Watch, you can start a cleaning session with a simple tap on the wrist.

In our lab tests this model was able to clean well on both hard and carpeted floors and picked up 91.3 percent of the debris in serpentine paths. It's not as efficient at cleaning edges and corners as the more expensive models. The sensors on the sides of the D4 keep it around 1.5 inches from walls. Also, it doesn't have the side-sweeping brush found on all but cheapest robotic cleaners. The turret's elevated design means that it cannot be used under furniture with low clearance. It does support virtual No-Go Lines so you can draw red lines on your floor plan to inform the D4 not to travel there. The battery life of 75 minutes is about average, too. This is an acceptable price for the convenience offered by this model.

2. iRobot Roomba 990

The Roomba from iRobot is the flagship robot vacuums with lidar of the company, providing premium performance and connected features. The 980 is priced at $800/$899 however it's usually cheaper if you shop on the internet (John Lewis or Amazon US are both excellent places to begin).

iRobot Roomba is designed by iRobot to make your floors more beautiful, cleaner and more powerful with its powerful cleaning system, smart navigation and smart integration with other iRobot devices. 4. iRobot Roomba 990

The latest iRobot robot offers the highest level of obstacle-avoiding performance of any Roomba we've tested due to its front camera and laser sensor. This enables it to avoid wires and pet feces much better than Roborock S6 MaxV, Ecovacs N8 Pro, and the other robotic vacuums that we've tested.

It's also the most powerful vacuum, capable of grabbing dirt with more granular debris and hairy pet hair that is larger, unlike other mid-range models such as the Roomba 960. This is due to the cleaner's larger counter-rotating brushes as well as a more powerful motor Lidar Robot Vacuum Cleaner that can pull more suction power.

The Roomba 995 is iRobot’s least expensive vacuum that comes with recharge and resume. However, it does not have the auto-empty feature that the I6+ or I7 offer.
